Henrico County is making the lifesaving drug naloxone available at no cost in several public facilities to help reduce overdose deaths and to support individuals in recovery from opioid addiction. 

Empower Henrico Distribution Cabinets

 Each cabinet holds up to 10 boxes of naloxone and have been installed at six locations:

What can Recovery Allies do to Support those in Recovery?

  • Get trained on how to use naloxone
    • Carry Naloxone
    • Host a Naloxone training for your community organization, neighborhood, religious organization, co-workers, etc
  • Lock your medications
  • Safely dispose of medications that are no longer being used
  • Help others to avoid peer pressure
  • Encourage member to seek mental health services and substance use services when needed
  • Learn good stress management for yourself and support others in doing so
  • Learn how to combat the stigma of substance use
  • Be an advocate
  • Share your story if you are in recovery
  • Get engaged
  • Spread the message that recovery works
  • Talk with people in Recovery
  • Participate in Empower Task Force meetings and committees
  • Attend Pro-Recovery Community events
  • Attend Meetings for co-dependency and healthy boundaries

Fighting the Stigma
